Why do people behave differently on Amavasya (Moonless night) and Poornima(Full moon night) ? Does the Moon Affect Humans and Nature on earth?

I have  personal experience.  I went to Kolkata some time ago for some work. My work was finished one day before  the scheduled return flight.  I thought  I should use this time to go to Ganga Sagar, which is a great pilgrim.

The very next morning I reached Kakdwip in Sundarban district of West  Bengal  from where the ferry ( a small ship)  goes to Sagar Deep where Gang Sagar is situated. I had come  early so that  I could take the earliest available ferry but to my surprise, no ferry would go before 9:30 am As there was no water available around the jetty and there was still 2 hours left. I noticed that there was dry land around the jetty, there was no sign of water far and wide. Under doubt I went to the booking counter and asked where the ship would go from? He assured me that it will go from here.  When I asked that  there is no water at all he smiled and said , please wait, after 2 hours, water will come. After 2 hours, there was really water around the jetty and the reason was the tide. The ferry arrived and took all the passengers to Sagar Island.

It is important that the Availability  of water here depends on the tide  and the reason for the tide ebb is the moon. Thus the Availability of water  in the  Kakdwip  Jetty area depends on the position of the moon, so the schedule of ferry from here also varies according to the position of the moon.

According to Indian astrology,  the moon is for the thoughts that come in the human mind and the waves that rise in the sea.

Let us understand how people's behavior gets affected by Amavasya ( no moon night )  and Purnima ( full moon night).

The  Indian astrology  discovered thousands of years ago  that different planets of the universe have an effect on the earth and  living beings including humans, and the impact of these planets on different  living beings  and nature is different, due to which they develop different characteristics or disorders.  The Moon is the closest  to the Earth among all the planets and in fact it is the natural satellite of the Earth, so it has a wide impact on Earth and on all living   creatures including humans.

The  Amavasya and Purnima  were named in India in ancient times according to the position of the Moon on the Earth. While Amavasya is a full dark night, the full moon is the night of the full moon.

According to  Indian Mythology  the moon is  called a planet of water (Jal Griha)  because it is said to have originated from the sea on Earth.  It has been proved and agreed by science that the gravity or any other force of the moon  attracts  the water of the earth towards it, due to which the tides in the sea happen. Since there is more than 60% water in the human body, naturally every human being is also affected by the moon and it has the most effect on the human mind and brain.

The moon completes one orbit of the Earth in about 27 days and 8 hours and at the same time makes a rotation on its axis. In this period we see the moon  from the earth in increasing order which becomes full lunar on full moon night  and then in decreasing order and it becomes extinct on Amavasya. Therefore, the effects of the moon are different on each day.

Indian sages and mystics had knowledge of the planets of the universe since the Vedic period. The effect of the Moon on the Earth was studied in great detail, which can be understood from the fact that according to Indian astrology, the horoscopes are extracted only on the basis of the lunar zodiac at the time of the person's birth. It is known that the zodiac sign where the moons are located at the time of a person's birth is called that person's lunar zodiac.

Since the moon is said to have been formed from the earth itself, it is believed that the moon has a son-mother relationship with the earth. Just like seeing a child, there is a stir in the heart of the mother, in the same way, seeing the moon, there is a stir on the earth.

The time of completion of one orbit motion by the Moon around the Earth and rotation on its axis   which is 27 days and 8 hours has a relationship with the menses cycles in the women. Therefore the Moon is considered to be a factor for happiness and motherhood.  That's why Moon  is called the maternal uncle ( Chanda Mama)  of children in India.

According to astrology, the moon is the master  of the mind, so the imaginativeness of the mind is influenced by the position of the moon. Innumerable Indian philosophers, poets and writers have impressed their writings to the extreme under  the impression of the moon.

Although the effects of the Moon on the Earth and its creatures are numerous, some of the major ones, which have been researched a lot from a scientific point of view, are as follows-

  • People who have extreme adverse  effects of the moon, their brain gets distorted and such humans are called mad in India.
    • The English word for such humans is Lunatic, which in Greek is derived from Lunar, which means moon . Therefore, in the Oxford English Dictionary, lunatic has been given the meaning of "killed or destroyed by the moon , which means that the moon has created such a condition of the person concerned. This Lunatic word of English is used internationally in all legal and other general documents done in English.
    • Research was done in many mad or Lunatics persons  and psychiatric patients in the world and it was found that on the full moon night all mental patients  behave very unusually and become very disturbed.
    • Therefore, in all Mental Asylums, there are instructions to take special precautions on the full moon night.
  • In Congo and many other African  countries, monkeys of a particular species make very strange  sounds on the full moon night.  It seems that they become very distraught on this night.
  • Corals breed on the largest scale on Earth on the full moon  night of every December in  the coast of Australia.

  • A particular species  of  lions of Africa do not hunt on the full moon night. The reason for this is that perhaps they do not eat food on the full moon night, but the most sensational thing is that on the next day immediately after the full moon, they attack humans the most, so on this day special precautions are taken in all lion safaris.
  • The rays of moonlight give blue glow to the scorpion, this makes them very active.

  • Cats and dogs also become unusually active on the full moon night and this is why dogs and cats are injured the most on the full moon night.
  •  The  Square bird ( Chakor)  found in India keeps looking at the Moon. It is believed that this World loves this form of the moon very much, so she does it because of the attraction of the moon.
  • In many warm regions of the world, people see strange dreams while sleeping in the open moonlight on a full moon night.
  •

Other effects on human life according to Indian astrology:

  • In the horoscope, whose moon is weak, often suffer from cold-related diseases.
  • Blood flow and heart are said to be the area of the Moon and its adverse effect may  create the possibility of blood pressure, heart disease only.
  • Urinary disease, brain failure, hypertension, heart attack are also moon related diseases.
  • The moon is considered the lord of the west. Moon is considered to be high in Cancer and low in Scorpio. When the Moon is in a higher zodiac, it makes a person fond of sweets, feasts and ornaments and also makes them attainable.
  • It is also rich and happy when the original triplet is there. When the Moon is in low zodiac sign, it  degrades the intellect and makes a person  unhappy.
  • When Venus is benefic, it deprives the mother of affection and happiness.
  • The attraction of the moon brings earthquakes, storms, stormy winds, excessive rainfall, landslides etc. on the earth.
